Hello.
We've recently changed our card on file implementation to meet the requirements in the attached file.
In the file - for installment and recurring - in subsequent payments there's no mention what the <processing Type> should be set to.
When making a Visa subsequent installment transaction (not initial installment) using a card on file - what should I set the <processing Type> to?
In the initial authorization/transaction I set the <processing Type> to "InitialInstallment", but I don't know what <processing Type> should be set it to in subsequent installments?
Maybe it doesn't need to be set?
Is there a difference between cards companies?
Like maybe Visa doesn't need it set in subsequent installments but MasterCard does?
Thanks
Hi Dov,
Please take a look at page 3 of Credit Card Stored Credentials Info V2.2.pdf . As the table shows, the processingType element is not used for subsequent recurring/installment transactions. You do need to include it with the initial transaction, as well as subsequent Card on File transactions, whether merchant or consumer initiated.
While the various card brands do have slightly different approaches to some aspects of CoF transactions, following the guideline in the doc I mentioned will work for Visa, MasterCard, and Discover. I have not yet seen a specification for AmEx.
