If I store a card on file that is used by a recurrence and then the same payment source is then used by the cardholder on a one-time transaction, what is the processing type I should send, initialCOF or cardholderInitiatedCOF?
Thanks.
EDIT:
To clarify, if the card was used for recurring payments initially then used as a cardholder initiated transaction, what is the processing type that should I send, initialCOF (because of the card has not been used on an unscheduled basis yet) or cardholderinitiatedCOF (because the card has been stored and used already)?
You would send the new transaction as initialCOF. Think of the various scenarios as "agreement" based, as opposed to card/cardholder based. So, for the recurring stream of transactions, you have an agreement with the cardholder to store the card information and reuse it for transactions in that stream, but no agreement exists for one-off CoF transactions. Now, they come back and do a one-off and allow you to store the card info for future, similar transactions (cardholder or merchant initiated, such as split shipments). This constitutes a new agreement for the use of the card info in later transactions.

PS...I believe if the cardholder came back and bought something that established a second stream of recurring payments, you would start a second unique stream, even though you have the card on file for the first stream...new "agreement".
