good morning. my company already uses vantiv for payments. we will have a usual channel for handling payments which stands in front of vantiv.. in cases where that system is unavailable (hopefully very rare occassions), I'm looking at alternatives to integrate directly with a payment processor. does it make sense? what's available from vantiv?
I might not be the best person to respond to this, since I work in Vantiv eComm, but I'll give it a shot.
It sounds like you are using a partner that is already integrated to Vantiv to submit your transactions for processing - what we would call a Presenter. I'm guessing, but I presume that you use a Presenter, because they also perform some additional services for you. If you do not want to integrate directly to Vantiv, or cannot, because you would lose the additional service the Presenter supplies, I would suggest talking to your Vantiv Relationship Manager to determine if we have other integrated partners that could supply the same services as the one you already use. We have hundreds of partners, so there is a strong possibility there would be several you could look at to determine the best fit for your needs. It is not at all unusual for a merchant to use multiple Presenters and to split their transactions between them. That way you have a built in alternative for your transaction flow should a connection go down, or some other type of failure occur.
