Managing Chaos

Blog Post created by dourada on Jul 8, 2016

One of my goals for 2016 is to find new/interesting ways to manage chaos.  Note the 'manage' qualifier as there is always a benefit to chaos.  The chaotic portion of a system is likely the most interesting.  I have been searching out books to read and have found the following three very interesting.

  1. Ben S. Bernanke - The Courage to Act, granted I did not actually read it (I listened) but still lots of great content.  Each time I feel stressed out I think of Bernanke's struggle and, while everything is relative, I still get a sense of calm knowing my stress should never compare to his.  Also a great treatise on crisis management.
  2. James Gleick --Chaos: Making a New Science -- amazing read and added benefit...hours of intense image study with my son.  One of the drawings looks like a spider and he loves spiders.
  3. Ed Catmull -- Creativity, Inc.: Overcoming the Unseen Forces That Stand in the Way of True Inspiration -- the story of Pixar.

Any other book recommendations?  And how do you manage chaos?
