Is there any kind of way to implement a POS system into a raspberry, simulating a vending machine? I'm not looking for a full development, but a great workaround to get started.
Are you looking for an EMV solution or non-EMV? For non-EMV it would be relatively simple to set up an integration using a USB magstripe reader with P2P encryption, and send the encrypted card data to our platforms for processing. You can use any MSR loaded with our encryption keys and more or less any of our processing platforms.
We also support the IDTech Augusta, a USB magstripe+EMV reader. The Augusta does not support PIN entry, and therefore is not an "ideal" EMV solution, particularly for large purchases. It could be perfectly appropriate for use with a vending machine.
A fully-capable EMV solution will add some complexity. I would recommend reviewing our triPOS Direct solution for use with Linux OS. This solution is tested on CentOS 7. (Note, I'm not sure if CentOS 7, specifically, can run on Raspberry Pi or not. A quick web search implies it is possible.)

Another possibility would be to use a cloud-based solution such as triPOS Cloud or TranCloud. These solutions are OS-agnostic and have no direct connection between the POS software and the EMV chip reader.

If you haven't already, I would like to recommend that you work with our Business Development team on next steps. They can help start the official processes on our side, and get you in touch with a member of our Solutioning team. Solutioning, in turn, can discuss the various options in detail and help you find the best solution for your purposes. If you'd like to get started, please provide me with your e-mail address. Feel free to e-mail me if you don't want your address visible on this website.
Thank you for your interest! We look forward to working with you.
Hi Martin, we are looking for a credit/debit card reader to proccess payments on a vending machine. We are very interested on using worldpay as a payment gateway.
As far as we understand, we need to set up a card reader and then proccess the card data into an API to process a payment, if the payment returns APPROVEED the sale can be proceed. We use Python.
Can you give us a little more information about it.
Thanks in advance.
Marcos, thank you for your e-mail. I'll handle next steps by direct contact.
